Inspired by classic portraiture
Drawing inspiration from classic portraiture and the speed I learnt as a photo-journalist, my process captures a child’s emerging character with humour and sensitivity.
Hand-printed
The images are hand-printed from negatives onto rich fibre-based papers. This produces a lovely soft finish - different to the hyper sharp images seen in the digital process.
Analogue process
Moochi Studio’s stunning prints are made using traditional photographic darkroom techniques that tease out the deep velvety blacks and luminescent highlights of gorgeous baby skin. Prints so rich, you’re rewarded every time you look.
Portable studio
I work with a portable studio (2m x 2m) that I set up in your home. (No tidying required ;-)). I find babies are at their best in the morning after they’ve slept and eaten.
Archival quality
We use gallery-grade papers to make our artwork. The prints are washed and toned to archival standards. The work is available as triptychs (three images), diptychs (two images) or as an enlarged contact sheet.
